Located in the historic center of Düzce, the former Armenian Church represents an important yet largely forgotten layer of the city’s multicultural past.

 

Constructed in the late Ottoman period, the building originally served as a place of worship for the Armenian community. Over time, it underwent functional and physical transformations and was eventually repurposed as a building of the Turkish Aeronautical Association (THK). Today, only a limited number of photographs and archival documents related to its original architectural form have survived.

 

Within the scope of this project, the building is digitally reconstructed using AI-assisted, image-based 3D modeling based on available photographs and visual traces. Rather than aiming for an authoritative reconstruction, the model offers an interpretive spatial representation that seeks to make the lost architectural presence experientially perceivable. By placing the digital model at its original location through web-based augmented reality, the project aims to reintegrate this forgotten structure into Düzce’s contemporary urban memory.
